"Tantalus" is a traditional vessel designed by Tim Winsor and built by Ship Builders with both Tim Wilson and Jack Taylor building her. The vessel is built out of Coromandel Kauri, reportedly in 1963. She also reportedly had a rebuild in 2004 by Tim Strange with approx. 83 days on the hard. This 11m x 2.8m beam x1m draft with approx. 1.85m headroom is a planked vessel and in great condition for her age. The vessel is powered by a 120hp Ford, being approx. 1146 hours since rebuild with hydraulic box and shaft drive, she also boasts a 12v bow thruster for easy berthage. Walking through the transom leads you to the cockpit with cupboards and access to the upper deck station. Entering the main saloon are 2 long seats/bunks for entertaining etc., with the helm on the starboard side. Down in the forward cabin midships is the galley with electric head opposite then into the forward cabin with 2 single bunks that could be made into a double, total sleeping 1 double 2 singles. "Tantalus" is a comfortable vessel being a piece of New Zealand maritime history boat building culture. Please call for further information and viewing.
